// THE BLESSING; Saying God Bless You Means What? 2 John 1:10-11* 75K+ ↓↓   ↓

Years ago I use to believe that it was a form of Christian ministry for me to say "God Bless You" to strangers. The check out clerk at the store, someone who I saw in passing, different people... randomly I would say this, feeling that it was a form of "street preaching". Then one day I heard a preacher give a sermon about "the blessing". My understanding started to change, and is still changing stricter even as I write this now. To bless someone, is a serious thing, and it's not to be taken lightly.

In the old Testament days, Abraham and others who were the leaders would "bless" a chosen son, who would then receive the control over the tribe. I'm sure there are many different types of blessings throughout the Holy Bible. Now, in the New Testament days, saved Christians have the spiritual right to pray a blessing over people, homes, items, etc... Our Lord and savior Jesus Christ honors these prayers from his saints, and empowers the blessing to be active.

When we say "God Bless You", we should really mean it from our hearts and souls. We should treat it as a impartation of prayer, a blessing to actually be instated upon someone or something we care about. We should take the time to pray to God to literally grant the blessing that we have spoken over someone or something.

When we simply say: "God Bless You", do we really, REALLY mean it? Or is it just a statement we make? When we tell this to a perfect stranger, how could we really, REALLY mean it if we don't even know what type of person they are? How could we speak such a sacred thing as the "blessing" over someone that could be a horrible Godless sinner? On top of that, who is God anyway? Saved Christians know who God is, but you could be saying "God Bless You" in passing to a stranger who in their own mind is thinking "yes.. so-and-so bless me" (thinking the name of a who-knows-what false god.) In this wicked secularized world, the title "God" is generalized and blasphemed. That is one reason why Christians are called CHRISTians, not GODians.

Did you know that in the Holy Bible, we are taught and warned by the original apostle John:

"If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds." (2 John 1:10-11 King James Version)

Bidding someone "God speed" is like saying "God Bless You" to them. John is teaching us not to bless someone if they do not hold the same Christian doctrine as us. Then he warns us harshly.

{Do you agree?}
