// #SPIRITUAL WARFARE (Luke 11:20-26) Keeping Yourself Clean Through Jesus Christ* 3K+ ↓↓   ↓

Even after getting saved through Jesus Christ, there is much more work to do. We are taught: "..work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (Philippians 2:12 KJV). The body and personal environment of a saved Christian must be forever fought for in spiritual warfare, and spiritually / physically protected to remain clean.

In Luke 11:20-26, Jesus gives us a most powerful, detailed explanation of the deliverance he offers, how to become protected against the enemy, and what happens if we do not fight spiritual warfare and remain in him.

20 "But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you."

Verse 20 defines the power of Jesus Christ, and the proclamation of the work of the Holy Ghost. By the power of God, the enemy is rebuked OUT, and the kingdom of God (the Holy Ghost) comes upon the person. Don't let any blasphemous thinking get in your mind about this. A human person does not become the kingdom of God, nor are they the beholder of the kingdom of God. The Holy Ghost is the beholder, and if the Holy Ghost comes upon someone, then it is the same as saying the kingdom of God is upon them. Jesus also talked about this in Luke 17:21.

21 "When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:"

Now that the enemy has been rebuked, and the Holy Ghost has come upon this person, they have become a "strong man" that is "armed". They are armed with the Holy Ghost: "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you" (Acts 1:8). Jesus says: "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Luke 10:19).

22 "But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils."

Yes we have power over the enemy through Jesus Christ. Jesus empowers us. However, on our own, apart from Jesus (which is also the same as saying apart from the Holy Ghost), we are not strong enough to over come the enemy. Verse 22 makes this clear by calling the enemy "stronger than he". The enemy comes and attacks. This is a non-negotiable, awful part of this spiritual war. As the verse says, IF the enemy is able to "overcome him", there is big trouble. The "armour", which is his protection is removed (the Holy Ghost leaves), and the man is destroyed. How could this happen? How could this person loose to the enemy? Again, the key is in the words "overcome him". The enemy was able to overcome him. Here is an example: The enemy tempts a Holy Ghost filled Christian to commit fornication (sex without Holy marriage). This traitor decides that he want this (overcome by the enemy) and commits the damnable sin. Well, the Holy Ghost will not be upon the life of a fornicator (all his armour wherein he trusted is removed from him), and the enemy destroys him (divideth his spoils).

23 "He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth."

Jesus is then making it clear that in order to remain clean, delivered and protected, we must remain with Jesus Christ! If we remain with Jesus Christ, we will retain the Holy Ghost, our deliverance, our salvation and our protection, therefore the enemy who may be stronger, will NOT OVERCOME US! If we remain with Jesus Christ, then we know his words and his laws and we keep them. If we do not remain with Jesus..........

24 "When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.
25And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.
26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first."

This is the end result of someone who has the enemy rebuked from their life, and they are delivered, only to allow the enemy to overcome them by not remaining in Jesus Christ, and by not continuing to fight the spiritual war to protect and guard themselves. They end up worse than before.

"For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire." (2 Peter 21-22).
